DEAR FRIENDS,
CENTRO DANILO DOLCI GLADLY PRESENTS YOU A NEW PROJECT UNDER THE EUROPEAN YOUTH FOUNDATION OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE FOR THE 1ST OCTOBER DEADLINE AND INVITES YOU TO BECOME A PARTNER IN THIS PROJECT.

Type of the project:
international youth meeting (Grant Category A) – training course

Project themes:
Promotion on the peace culture and education; active youth participation in conflict prevention, peace-building; demonstration of the non-discrimination, tolerance principles ; development of the intercultural dialogue; Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities; promotion of cultural diversities.

Project Description:
Our training course “Tools for Peace” will promote the culture of peace through the peace education. The project will give the participants new knowledge about main concepts, values of peace education and introduce to them some methods that can be used when educating for peace, which are: arts, peace journalism, sulha mediation, reciprocal maieutic approach and oppress theatre. Participants will use what they learned in their work contexts and can share with other professionals and colleagues new knowledge, skills and values.

The main approach in the course is peace education (as a process), learning by doing, cooperative learning, peer to peer and participation. The project also includes the creation of a map of peace needs together with the local community, the distribution of peace symbols around the city and the creation of new project ideas. It will take place in Palermo, Italy and will last 9 days (including travel).

Project specific objectives:

  • To promote the culture of peace, peace education, the peace values etc.;
  • Promotion of the tolerance, solidarity, respect and understanding of another culture among young people;
  • Promote the respect of human rights;
  • Promotion of the peace methods in the conflict resolution;
  • Demonstrate the principles of equality and non-discrimination;
  • Active participation of youth in the building of their community;
  • Give opportunity/(Promote) for professional development of all educators in relation to issues of peace, justice and right.

    Duration and place:
    9 days (including travel). The international workshop will be held in Palermo, Sicily (Italy) from the 10th till 18th May 2010.

    Participants:
    Involved participants are youth leaders and youth workers, aged 18-30.

    Financial details:
    Participants in the workshop have to contribute with the 30% of the travel expenses. Accommodation and food are covered 100%.

    Partners:
    Partner-countries from member states of the Council of Europe. Involved participants are youth leaders and young people from disadvantaged areas, age 18-30 (2 participants max. by each partner).     How to become a partner:
    Organisations interested in becoming partners have to send an email PROVIDING a little description on aims, structures, activities, membership and contact address, and a letter from the organisation giving the agreement to the participation on the project (please find it in attachment to fill in).

    The deadline to send the agreement letters is the 25th of September 2009.
