Crossing the Line: Eurospectives has been successful in securing funding from the LEONARDO Tranfer of Innovation strand of the Lifelong Learning Programme!

Merseyside Expanding Horizons have partnered with urban music, media and youth culture company URBEATZ to develop a project that will develop and adapt an innovative DVD “Crossing the Line” – developed by URBEATZ for use in other European countries.

The main aim of Crossing the Line: Eurospectives is to produce a DVD and accompanying workbooks which will highlight the issues affecting young people across Europe via the use of arts based performances, filmed specifically for the DVD. Crossing the Line: Eurospectives will specifically engage at risk young people in the development of the DVD and workbooks. The product will be targeted for use by VET trainers across Europe working with young people and the workbooks will highlight learning outcomes to provide competencies and a European perspective on Youth Culture, disengagement and engagement which will provide hope and clarity to the issues that the Partner countries and communities are facing.

MEH will act as the LEAD organisation and will coordinate the project and manage the consortium. URBEATZ will lead on the preparation, adaptation and transfer of initial DVD “Crossing the Line” for use in the other target countries and will provide the expertise on youth issues as well as providing technical filming and production expertise leading on the production of the final DVD product “Crossing the Line: Eurospectives” and related imagery. Other Partners are Euro-Training – Bulgaria, ROC Midden Nederland (Central Netherlands Regional Education and Training Centre) – Netherlands, CE.S.I.E – Centre for Studies and European Initiatives Committee – Italy and Association for Education and Sustainable Development (AESD) – Romania.

With support from LTU, Urbeatz will now be able to launch their Crossing the Line DVD which has already been very influential in Liverpool and has been used proactively to inform policy and practice locally and regionally on an EU level to ensure transfer amongst different sectors and geographical transfer amongst countries with very different cultures and experiences of dealing with groups at risk of exclusion.

Congratulations URBEATZ!!

The Crossing the Line: Eurospectives project will start in October 2009 and will run for two years.
