Fish in a Euro Box has been successful in securing funding from the LEONARDO Tranfer of Innovation strand of the Lifelong Learning Programme!

Merseyside Expanding Horizons have partnered with Wicked Fish, a professional performing arts company in Liverpool whose performers all have Learning Difficulties to develop a project that will develop and adapt an innovative practice, 'Fish in a Box' currently used by Wicked Fish to support people who have learning difficulties into a written and visual training product for use in other European countries and with other groups at risk of exclusion.

The new product will be called ‘Fish in A Euro Box’ and will specifically engage people from the different groups at risk of exclusion in each of the partner countries in the development of the DVD and workbooks and the product will be tested in close co-operation with the target group i.e. VET trainers and the specific groups at risk of exclusion. Those groups are people with learning difficulties, people with mental health issues, disaffected youth, women immigrants and people with substance misuse issues. 'Fish in a Euro Box' will comprise of a DVD and accompanying workbook, and will provide innovative material to facilitate personal development and raise competence levels of people at risk of exclusion.

MEH will act as the LEAD organisation and will coordinate the project and manage the consortium. Wicked Fish will lead on the on the preparation, adaptation and transfer of the ‘Fish in a Box’ practice currently utilised for use with people with Learning Difficulties in the UK and will work to develop initial DVD and workbook to illustrate use of practice for European Partners. Other Partners are Euro-Training – Bulgaria, Social Innovation Fund - Lithuania, Kolping-Bildungswerk Wuerttemberg e.V. - Germany and Stichting Basisberaad GGZ - Netherlands.

With support from LTU, Wicked Fish will now be able to take their 'Fish in a Box' methodology already proven a successful tool when working with People with Learning Difficulties, to other sectors and different groups at risk of exclusion across Europe.

The 'Fish in a Euro Box' project will start in October 2009 and will run for two years.
